After my brother's college graduation, we headed out to look for a place where we can feed almost 10 hungry people.
Our original plan was to visit the Carnival food park in Marikina, but my mom suddenly mentioned how much she wanted to eat some ribs. And my darling husband quipped on how he missed eating ribs and that it was a pretty good idea. That's when my brother opened up the idea of going to Meatslut in Lilac Street, Marikina. You know, Lilac Street has become a popular food hive where restaurants, food stands, and independent food places suddenly appear out of nowhere.

This "diner-esque" signage will greet your rumbling tummy! |

Upon entering the restaurant, their retro sign caught my attention. Underneath it said, "Being Vegan Ain't That Fun", which was appropriate with the name of the place. You wouldn't name a place "Meatslut" and expect vegans to enjoy it there, right? (They do have mashed potatoes but my family hated it, more on that later.)
We were seated outside because they didn't have any room inside. It was fine with me, it was a bit smoky inside anyway.

My youngest brother, Coco. The place has this "chill inuman" vibe to it. Haha. |

The place had a chill, homey vibe. It felt like a place where you can spend Friday nights drinking with your friends while enjoying endless rounds of meat. If you're a carnivore, then go ahead. I wasn't sure if it was a "kid-friendly" place since I had my two younger siblings with me. 😂 We couldn't do anything about it anyway. They're just after the grub.
Meatslut's menu is short and sweet. I like that! It makes it easier for us to order.
We got some sirloin and short plate ribs, spinach gratin, potato dauphinoise and mashed potato.
The steaks come with various sides like rice, corn, mashed potatoes and french beans. Since almost everyone was hungry AF, most of them ordered rice. I think my mom was the only one who went to a different direction and ordered beans. I should know! I was the one writing down all the orders.
Meatslut also has an extensive drink menu, to enjoy with their array of meat, of course! Since I'm preggo, I wasn't allowed to drink anything alcoholic. I just stuck with water, my family got some sodas and SOLA.
We had to wait for 20-25 minutes for our orders. My mom was so hungry, she asked my brother to buy junk food at the nearby sari-sari store. She even said, "I hope they don't charge us for corkage. I'm really hungry." Haha.

The food I ordered exceeded my expectations! I liked the spinach gratin and potato dauphinoise so much. We even had to order two more servings of the potato dauphinoise. Dauphinoise is a French dish made up of potato and cream. It really went well with my short plate ribs. The ribs were tender, moist, chewy and flavorful. Based on my husband's observation, the ribs taste better newly served. Dig in once they serve you the meat! I think this was the reason why I don't have a lot of photos of the food. I forgot to take photos when I sunk my teeth into Meatslut's meat. Haha. 😂
When I went inside the restaurant to order additional food, I noticed this big tank of water. I believe Meatslut applied sous-vide technique (Thanks, L and Burnt! Haha) to the meat we were eating. If you've seen the movie "Burnt", wherein this chef described it as placing the food inside "condoms" or plastic bags. Basically, meat is placed in vacuum-sealed pouches and placed in water baths for several hours. This ensures that the inside of the meat is nicely cooked without drying the outside. (I ain't a chef, I researched this!)
I forgot to take a photo of the mashed potatoes! It was the only thing that disappointed everyone. It had this Gerber-like consistency and it felt like it wasn't homemade. You know? Those instant mashed potatoes where you just add water and voila, there you have your mashed potato (but not really). It was like that! L ordered some but decided to change it last minute when the first order of mashed potatoes arrived. I mean, come on!
Before we ended dinner, I had a little fangirl moment when I spotted my idol- my favorite Premiere Vixen and Daily Grind model, Linda!

I love you, Linda! God, she is pretty. ❤️ |
She usually bartends at Meatslut for friends and guests. Now I know where to spot here! From what I remember she used to do this for Bubba Gump in Greenbelt 3.
Overall, I had an okay experience at Meatslut! Your boyfriend, husband, or guy friends will enjoy it here. I suggest you bring them for dinner for a hearty and meaty meal. I'll prolly go back when I'm no longer pregnant to fully enjoy the experience. Thank you, Meatslut!

Thank you! We're happy you enjoyed the Meatslut experience. We apologize for the mash though. Its really made of fresh potatoes but we run it through a screen mesh for the baby food consistency the way Chef Robuchon does. Hope to see you soon! :)
